April Challenge Winner and Highlights

Hey, mixed media card artists! The April gallery had 94 super gorgeous floral-inspired mixed media cards. Can you say wow? :o) Time to announce the winner and highlights.

And now here are the highlights. The girls in the design team picked an entry to highlight. It's the entry that uniquely impacted us in some way -- a specific technique that was used, the colors, the creativity, or something in it that touched or impacted us.

Challenge #10 {Inspiration Cards}

A week has flown by! How are you doing with your floral-inspired mixed media cards?

The Mixed Media Card Challenge #10 {Flowers}

Hello, mixed media card artists! It's April and it's time for a new mixed media card challenge theme. For April, our theme is "FLOWERS". Show us your flower-inspired mixed media cards. "Basket" is an optional element.


HOW TO PLAY
1. Create a mixed media CARD based on the theme, with or without the optional element.
2. Display the challenge graphic on your blog post and link back to this challenge post.
3. You may enter as many times as you want, as long as each entry is different.
4. You may combine a maximum of 7 challenges (6 other challenges plus ours).
5. Submit your projects by April 25, 11:55 p.m. PDT (GMT-7).
6. We'll announce the winner and highlights on April 30.

How did the design team interpret the theme? Take a look at our cards below. We hope they inspire you to play along with us! We look forward to seeing your beautiful cards!

Distress Ink to stamp and then spray water and stamp.

Gelli plate lace background, stencilled acrylic paint, Neocolour II crayons, Stickles, gilding wax

Rubber Band embossed background, die-cuts, sponged and shaped punched daisy, gold embossing

Heat embossing and water coloring paired with layering makes for my mixed media card

Used designer paper with Matte Medium and Gesso, Silhouette cut files coloured with distress ink, Inktense pencils and Wink of Stella

Embossed background, foil, alcohol inks, acetate, acrylic paint, embossing paste, glitter, archival ink, dried fern and leaf, stamps, markers, 2 stencils.

Acrylic paints, spray inks, gesso, stencils, dies, and metals!

Background made swiping specialty card stock through inks and rubbing alcohol on craft mat, embossed pot, flower stamped on modeling film that was layered to Terminology Tissue wrap, colored with ink and cut out, partial stenciling on side.

Die cuts of patterned paper layered with Prima flowers.
*****

 
Distress Stain (light pink) background with Distress Ink (dark pink) rays. Rays created with a Tim Holtz stencil. Glitter paste partially applied over the rays. Stamped flowers with wooden buttons and yarn. Glimmer Mist splodges and a stamped, fussy cut sentiment.

Gel medium and punchanella to create the circles in background then used white ink over once dry & fabric flowers
*****

Background created by blending Gelatos on gesso-ed panel, stamping, and stenciling gesso; edges distressed and swiped with Japanese watercolor brush pen; sentiment panel stamped and splattered, and adhered with layers of washi tapes




A friendly reminder: We are a CARD challenge, therefore please only submit card projects (no layouts, altered projects, ATCs, etc.). Non-card projects will be deleted.
