The Mixed Media Card Challenge #4 {Vintage}

Welcome to October! It's a brand new month, which means a brand new challenge! Are you ready? "Vintage" is our theme this month and you can interpret this any way you like. What does "vintage" make you think of? Take your cue from there. Our optional element this month is "key" so you can try to incorporate that into your card. Go beyond your inks and stamps, be as messy or clean as your creative muse tells you (or lets you!), and have fun!

HOW TO PLAY
1. Create a mixed media CARD based on the theme, with or without the optional element.
2. Display the challenge graphic on your blog post and link back to this challenge post.
3. You may enter as many times as you want, as long as each entry is different.
4. You may combine a maximum of 7 challenges (6 other challenges plus ours).
5. Submit your projects by October 25, 11:55 p.m. PDT (GMT -700).
6. We'll announce the winner and highlights on October 31.

Here's our take on this month's team. We hope our mixed media cards inspire you!

Sponged Distress ink over stencil and then over-stamped with script (second generation stamping). Die-cut poinsettia is coated with red glitter glue and shaped with stylus and mat for dimension; gold liquid pearls added to center.
*****

Watercolour with Distress markers on vellum, modge podge tissue paper background
*****

Distress Stain "faux watercolour" background, stamping in two brown tones (incl. key stamp), golden glitter glue hand drawn net pattern, spray ink splatters in white and blue tones.
*****

Background distressed music paper in which I used stencils and distress inks. I cut out a tree using a Sizzix die from some vintage looking paper. Trimmed the images with black and white pens.
*****

Gesso over patterned paper, translucent paste over stencil, and then colored with distressed ink
*****

Patterned paper over-stamped with music, sentiment stamped and fussy cut,
handcut heart, key, lace ribbon, all distress inked.
*****

Focal image: background marbleizing distress acrylic paint technique. Image: black archival ink. Highlights: pens, gold lame mist. Mat: wrinkled white tissue paper, PPA glue and mica powders. Highlights: Inka Gold. Sentiment: stamped on acetate.
*****

Patterned Papers, Distress Inks, White Gel Pen, Wink of Stella, Staples, Glossy Accents
*****

Stenciling over patterned paper, sponging, sanding die cuts, colorizing B&W photo, inking wreath, ribbon and stars, distress paint over metal key
*****

Stamped on, sponged, and distressed patterned paper, as well as applied rub-ons and Distress paints over drywall tape; layered two distressed and inked ATC size panels; decoupaged vintage girl over panel; finished with sticker sentiment, diecut flower, ribbon, and doily.
*****

Stamping on PP, heat embossing, splattering with water, die cutting, distressing and gems.
*****

Distress inks combined with old classic vintage colors and roses makes for my vintage card
*****

Distress inks, paints, lace, stamping a little bit of fussy cutting and lots of layers
*****

Inked and stamped background, with hints of water splashes. Inked red paper doily, and die-cut heart with wings; painted with different crackle paints, and inked when dry.

  5. Ops, I just missed the deadline, now that I made my vintage card... including a key :(. I was confused with the monthly challenge, and thought the projects had to be submitted by October, 31. Annoying, but my mistake.

    1. Sorry you missed the deadline, Cris! Just a heads up that the deadline (25th of the month) is always mentioned in the challenge post under "How to Play" (item #5) and also on the sidebar.
